Help share the joy of cycling!
We decided to raise funds for an accessible bike because of Cheryl – one of our Core Members.
She loves to ride bikes – she loves the feeling of the wind in her face and the different sensory input that comes from different speeds and terrains. Due to mobility limitations, she is unable to ride standard bikes. She had previously owned an accessible bike, but it broke and had to be disassembled as it was irreparably damaged.
Help us raise funds for a new accessible bike. Having an accessible bike will not only allow Cheryl to do one of her favourite activities, but it will also allow her to access parts of the community that can be more inaccessible to wheelchair users. We also think that everyone in our community could benefit from using an accessible bike, so we hope to share it amongst all our Core Members who are wheelchair users – to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to travel along the various bike trails and lanes within Victoria, and to have the opportunity to feel the wind in their hair.
Thanks to donations from our wonderful community members, as of this week, we have fundraised just over 10% of our $15,000 goal! If you’re interested in donating, please check out the following link: Donate to the Shekinah Homes Society
